With the April holiday week coming up for Massachusetts public schools from April 15th to 19th, parents are likely looking for ways to keep their kids focused. Boston is ready to offer interactive experiences, play areas, special children’s menus, history lessons disguised as fun, and more, perfect for parents to unwind. Check out 10 things to do during April school holiday week.
View Boston at the Prudential Center offers a stop for the whole family with 53 miles of views. The 360-degree observation deck sits high above downtown Boston and is the perfect place to experience a bird’s-eye view. Create a game to identify landmarks using Virtual Viewer, an interactive discovery tool for exploring neighborhoods. Finally, grab a bite to eat at The Beacon Bistro. Just because you’re out of school for a week doesn’t mean you have to stop learning. Sneak in a history lesson during family time at Old South Meeting House. Held from 10am to 3pm, Monday to Friday during the school holidays, guests of all ages can enjoy conservation and preservation-themed activities, crafts and games. If your child is under the age of 12, they have free admission to both the Old State House and the Old South Meeting House. Even though Pat’s is not in season, Patriot Place is still busy during the April holidays. Starting April 12, this shopping, dining and entertainment destination adjacent to Gillette Stadium will feature everything from live music to pop-up spa events, dance lessons for kids and singalongs set to exhibits of dragons and mythical creatures. A full lineup of family-friendly activities will be held through the 21st. Roger Williams Park Zoo. The Patriots Hall of Fame, presented by RTX, also has a full lineup of special activities that week, including a chance to try on all six of the Patriots’ Super Bowl rings on April 15th. Kids School Vacation Activities Week at Boston Public Market is full of fun times to keep kids satisfied (and hopefully exhausted). Little Ravage Club at the Prudential Center does not have a pick-up situation (parents must be with their children), but does offer open play in two-hour increments and is available during school holidays. It will be the perfect refuge in time. The Public Garden offers tranquil moments with landscaped gardens, quaint bridges, and the popular swan boats that have been plying around the park’s tranquil lagoon for nearly 150 years. This mangrove-themed aquarium is surrounded by a shallow rim and observation windows, allowing you to see these gorgeous undersea creatures up close. The aquarium will premiere “Ocean Paradise 3D” at Simon’s Theater that week, as well as showing “ARCTIC: Our Frozen Planet,” “Blue Whales: Return of the Giants” and “Secrets of the Sea.” A new 40-minute film allows viewers to dive into the pristine waters of some of the most remote islands in the Pacific Ocean. Say Hello.” You can sing and dance along with your favorite characters while enjoying fun surprises along the way.
