TEHRAN – The ancient city of Takht in Yazd province is currently experiencing significant growth in its tourism sector, with 51 tourism projects being implemented.
“There are currently 51 tourism projects underway in Takht worth a total of 43 trillion rials ($72 million),” Yazd province’s tourism director said on Thursday.
Seyed Mohammad Rastoghari detailed that the project includes various facilities such as a hotel, traditional accommodation, ecotourism facilities and food and beverage spaces, all at various stages of completion, ranging from 10 to 90 percent.
“A total of R540 billion in loans has been provided to support tourism in Takht.”
Mr Rastogari said some of these projects are expected to be completed and operational by the end of this year.
Highlighting Takht’s rich cultural heritage, Rastogari said so far 120 tangible and intangible cultural heritage sites of the city have been registered at the national level.
Takht is surrounded by the Zagros Mountains and is blessed with a pleasant and clean climate and abundant pomegranate fields, hence the name Takht.
Takht is located in the western part of Yazd province and throughout the city there are numerous fields of pomegranates, peaches, almonds, walnuts, berries, apricots, cherries, apples and grapes.
Most of the local people are farmers and horticulturalists, and Takht is a good area for rearing silkworms and producing honey.
