The grant is intended to support outdoor recreation. Each region on the list was awarded up to $20,000 through the Virginia Tourism Authority’s DRIVE Outdoor grant program. This funding can be used for projects such as purchasing new outdoor recreation equipment, improving access to outdoor recreation, events, research, and more.
The communities receiving funding are:

“Growing the outdoor economy fosters job creation and presents endless opportunities for outdoor-focused partnerships,” Youngkin said. “Projects generated from this program will further position Virginia as a top state for outdoor recreation on the East Coast and a natural fit for outdoor businesses.”
