The South Shore Tourism and Convention Authority’s Board of Directors has selected Phil Taillon as the Authority’s next president and CEO. Taillon will replace former Crown Point Mayor David Uran, who resigned at the end of 2023.
Mr. Taillon currently serves as Chief of Staff for the City of Hammond and previously held the role of Executive Director of Planning and Development. The department said in a news release that he was selected “after careful consideration and evaluation of numerous candidates.”
In his new role, Taillon will be responsible for leading efforts to foster economic growth through tourism and attracting visitors to the region.
“His vision, strategic thinking and proven leadership skills make him the ideal candidate to lead the organization into a prosperous future,” the tourism board said in a statement. “I am confident that under Phil’s leadership, SSCVA will continue to grow and exceed expectations as we promote the region as a premier destination for visitors and events.”
Prior to entering public service, Mr. Taillon worked for more than a decade at First Midwest Bank, which was acquired by Evansville-based Old National Bank in 2022.
The department said the board’s executive committee will begin contract negotiations soon.
