Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett on Tuesday embarked on a trip to Europe aimed at improving Jamaica’s standing in the global tourism sector through a series of vital initiatives.
In Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Minister Bartlett will attend the Resilience Innovation Summit hosted by the Global Travel and Tourism Resilience Council.
The summit will serve as a platform to strengthen Jamaica’s efforts in building a more resilient and adaptable tourism industry following the global disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Keynote: Innovating for Resilience
Minister Bartlett will deliver a keynote address focusing on the critical role of innovation in strengthening the resilience of the tourism sector.
He emphasises the need to foster a culture of creativity and embrace fresh ideas to navigate future challenges and thrive in the evolving market environment.

Bilateral meetings: Cultivating partnerships for success
In conjunction with the Summit, Minister Bartlett will hold bilateral discussions with representatives of Tourism Management Organisations (DMOs) and national counterparts.
These conversations will be an excellent opportunity to showcase the unique appeal of Brand Jamaica and strengthen the collaborations that are essential to growing the tourism sector.
United Nations Tourism Council: Leading the way in sustainable tourism practices
Minister Bartlett will then attend the 121st Session of the United Nations Tourism Executive Council in Barcelona, Spain.

Supporting small island developing states
Minister Bartlett highlighted the significant achievement of Jamaica having achieved the position of Second Vice-Chair of the United Nations Tourism Executive Council.
This esteemed role empowers Jamaica to disseminate its experiences and advocate for the interests of small island developing States.
Jamaica will actively participate in these deliberations, reaffirming its position as a pioneer in the global tourism sector.

Minister Bartlett expressed Jamaica’s unwavering commitment to maintaining its position as a thought leader and a top destination for international travelers.
