(MENAFN-Bangladesh Monitor) Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on June 10 sought Sri Lankan investment in Bangladesh’s tourism sector for mutual benefit of the two friendly countries.
She made the appeal during a courtesy call with Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe at her residence.
“Discussions were held on how Sri Lankan investment can be brought into Bangladesh’s tourism sector as Sri Lanka is far ahead in the tourism sector,” Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmood told reporters after the meeting.
The two leaders also discussed in detail mutual cooperation in the fields of agriculture and maritime affairs, he added.
“The meeting was merely a courtesy call. However, all aspects of bilateral relations were discussed in detail,” he further informed.
The Sri Lankan President expressed his gratitude to the Bangladeshi Prime Minister for supporting his country financially during the critical time.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina invited the Sri Lankan President to visit Bangladesh.
Senior Foreign Minister Masood Bin Momen and Prime Minister’s Spokesperson M. Naimul Islam Khan were also present at the press conference.
