As part of its efforts to explore partnerships to further develop Taiwan as a sending market for tourists to the Mariana Islands, the Mariana Islands Visitor Bureau participated in the Taipei Tourism Expo 2024, held at the Taipei World Trade Center from May 31 to June 3, 2024.
Taipei Tourism Expo is Taiwan’s second largest travel and consumer fair, and an opportunity for national and state tourism bureaus, airlines, travel agencies, hotels, and other tourism stakeholders from around the world to promote their products in the Taiwanese market. This year’s expo attracted 307,996 visitors. The event featured 250 manufacturers, 800 booths, four major airlines – China Airlines, Evergreen Airlines, Cathay Pacific Airways, and Tigerair – and 12 international exhibitors, including MVA, Guam, Republic of Palau, South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Nepal, and Russia.
The expo opened with a speech by Taiwan’s newly elected President, Lai Ching-te.
“MVA has participated in previous Taipei Tourism Expo events to promote the attractions of Saipan, Tinian and Rota to both travel industry partners and travelers,” said MVA Deputy Managing Director Judy Torres, who led the Mariana Islands marketing team at the event. “This will be our first participation since before the pandemic as MVA continues to explore the potential of developing markets by exploring tourism partnerships and inviting Taiwanese visitors to our destinations.”
A total of 902 Taiwanese people visited the Mariana Islands in fiscal year 2019, before the pandemic. So far this fiscal year, 73 Taiwanese people have visited.
MVA’s participation was covered by Taiwanese media such as Travel Rich Weekly, Travel Trend News Magazine, and Ximmedia. (PR)
