TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Southwest Coast National Scenic Area Administration on Wednesday (June 19) launched a new bicycle promotion campaign, “YouBike I Like,” to boost tourism in southwest Taiwan.
The campaign promotes tourism in Yunlin, Chiayi and Tainan counties, highlighting the region’s unique white salt fields and golden sunsets, according to “Taiwan: Wave Wonders.”
To further promote the region, a large-scale cycling event, the “South Coast of Taiwan Cycling Tour” (キフ極西点), will be held on September 7th, focusing on the important religious beliefs of the region.
The tour begins at Nankun-Nidai Tianfu in Tainan, a site dedicated to the five great kings Li, Zhi, Wu, Chu and Fan.
Next, the cyclists ride to Guoshenghang Lighthouse (Guoshenghang Lighthouse), the westernmost point of mainland Taiwan.
The final destination is the Luermen Temple of Our Lady, the largest Orthodox temple in Taiwan, which combines the two major faiths of Wangye and Mazu.
The event has three route options: the 90km “Fortune Ride” (行願組), the 40km “Scenic Ride” (行跡組), and the family-friendly 30km “Family Ride” (親子組). These routes will take participants past popular tourist sites such as Beimen Crystal Church (晶教堂), Jingzijiao Walapan Salt Fields (井子腳瓦パン鹽田), and 1920 Meiyang Forest (1920 Meiyang Forest).
