The Kentucky Distillers Association is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Bourbon Trail with a new brand and a combined Kentucky Bourbon Trail and Craft Tour experience. “Kentucky almost has something like the Disney World of Bourbon,” says KDA’s Jessica Pendergrass. The Bourbon Trail has grown significantly from seven distilleries founded in 1999 to 46 today. “It’s been a really fascinating journey to see the Bourbon Trail become what it is today, and I’m not here to reminisce about the journey, I’m really here to celebrate the future,” says Eric Gregory. The KDA unveiled the new contemporary brand on Thursday, announcing its decision to combine the Kentucky Bourbon Trail and Craft Tour into one experience. “We’re launching a whole new brand that really elevates the trail, gives it a luxury feel and lets people know about all that we have to offer here. “The Kentucky Bourbon Trail is now a destination that everyone in the world wants to visit,” Pendergrass said. A new website will be launched this summer that will allow visitors to create their own Bourbon Trail itinerary. “This will allow people to create their own itinerary, see exactly how far apart each distillery is and get a better understanding of the extent of the trail,” Pendergrass said. The KDA plans to invest at least $194 million over the next five years to upgrade visitor centers and distillery tours to ensure the Bourbon Trail experience continues for the 2.5 million visitors per year. “The Kentucky Bourbon Trail is now a global must-see destination,” Gregory said. The digital experience for visitors is scheduled to launch next month.
