The world is in a New York state of mind.
The Empire State Building has been ranked the world’s best tourist attraction in TripAdvisor’s new Travelers’ Choice Awards for 2024. The 102-story skyscraper towers taller than the Eiffel Tower and the Colosseum in Rome.
The visit to Midtown Manhattan’s most iconic skyscraper, completed in 1931, was named best as part of the user-generated content site’s annual awards, earning it a place on the list with more than 100,000 reviews and an average score of 4.5 out of 5 stars.

The building where Elf Buddy caused the mailroom mayhem met the criteria of “exceptional reviews and opinions from the TripAdvisor community over a 12-month period.”
According to TripAdvisor, “Less than 1% of its 8 million listings have achieved this milestone.”

Following the Empire State Building and the Eiffel Tower in second place were the Anne Frank House in the Netherlands, the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona and the Cayman Crystal Caves in the Cayman Islands.
The Louvre in Paris came in seventh overall.
Elsewhere in Manhattan, Central Park came in at 18th place.

In another category, offering the world’s best food and drink experiences, Secret Food Tours Greenwich Village’s offering came in at 19th place.
The Maid of the Mist at Niagara Falls was voted number two in the world for best sailing and day cruise.
