“Travel between Paris and other destinations is also below the usual June-August average, as French people postpone their holidays until after the Olympics or consider alternative travel plans,” the company added. French aviation industry group Fnam said it could not confirm that tourists were avoiding Paris, but Air France-KLM’s statement was in line with the latest data from the Paris Tourist Board.
Meanwhile, worker remittances stood at $3.14 billion in the first half of 2024, up from $2.82 billion in the same period last year. Remittance earnings stood at $519.6 million in June. Tourism and worker remittances are among the South Asian nation’s largest sources of overseas earnings.
