NMTD News:
SANTA FE — The New Mexico Tourism Department (NMTD) will award $3.8 million in grants to 48 organizations through the Cooperative Marketing Grant Program for fiscal year 2025. Los Alamos County will receive $133,614.
NMTD is implementing a 2:1 funding match in FY25, meaning grant recipients are only financially obligated to 33% of the total grant amount provided by NMTD. This 2:1 funding match will result in a total advertising investment of an estimated $5.7 million in FY25.
“One of the reasons our Cooperative Marketing Grants Program has become so popular and valuable over the years is because participants receive technical assistance and strategic planning from an expanded team,” said Acting Cabinet Secretary Lansing Adams. “As we head into FY25, we’re grateful to have such a large team of tourism marketing experts ready to help our tourism partners develop compelling campaigns and sound strategies.”
Nine organizations will be participating in the program for the first time in FY 25. These first-timers include El Rancho de las Golondrinas, Friends of Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge, Ghost Ranch Education and Retreat Center, Museum of the American Indian and Contemporary Native Art, New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs, New Mexico Steam Locomotive and Railroad Historical Society, New Mexico Wildlife Center, Santa Fe Gallery Association, and Tucumcari Mainstreet.
NMTD provided significant grant funding to rural areas in FY25. Approximately 71 percent of FY25 grant recipients represent rural areas of the state. Rural areas of the state will receive $2.4 million in grant funding through this program. Grants totaling $114,692 were awarded to tribal and Native American organizations in FY25.
The program supports destinations and local governments, as well as a variety of agencies and facilities that focus on outdoor recreation and cultural heritage. In total, NMTD awarded 11 grants to cultural agencies and four grants to outdoor recreation organizations.
The Village of Ruidoso received the largest Cooperative Marketing Grant totaling $608,866 in FY 25. As a community that relies on tourism as a significant source of economic activity, this grant will help the Village of Ruidoso resume tourism promotion when the community is ready.
