Tamaulipas – The Tamaulipas Tourism Ministry has reached an agreement with the consuls of San Antonio and Austin, Texas, to consolidate strategies to strengthen border tourism. In addition, more than 50 business appointments have been set and upcoming visits to the state have been scheduled.
The 3rd International Magical Villages Festival, held in San Antonio, Texas, featured 677 exhibitors from 27 states and magical towns and neighborhoods from the Mexican Republic, with the state of Tamaulipas presenting its touristic, gastronomic and cultural attractions to more than 6,500 participants.
Tamaulipas State Tourism Director Benjamín Hernández Rodríguez stressed that this is a valuable opportunity to showcase the tourism advantages of the state.
“In Tamaulipas, the state showcased everything from the artisanal skills of its everyday workers to enchiladas tultecas, a folkloric ballet performance from the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas (UAT), and of course a wide range of tourist services,” Hernández said.
Tour operators have expressed an interest in including Tamaulipas’s destinations in their itineraries, particularly the Magical City, and agreements have been made with the states of Nuevo Leon, Oaxaca and Yucatán to develop tourist routes and exchanges to help the state get through the low tourist seasons.
The international event generated business appointments with tour operators and travel agencies, increasing visitor numbers to the state and bringing significant economic benefits, as well as sales contracts for handicrafts.
