SOUTHERN INDIANA — SoIN Tourism will begin accepting Tourism Capital Development Fund grant applications starting Aug. 1.
The prize pool ranges from $100,000 to $250,000, with up to $1 million to be distributed through the Clark County and Floyd County Tourism Boards. Applications are due by September 30.
According to SoIN Tourism, funding proposals must align with the TCDF’s main goals.
• Facilitate transformative capital development projects that positively change the trajectory of communities and regions as tourism destinations.
• Strengthening its capacity as a tourist destination and tourism generating site.
• Improve the quality of life in the community.
Over the past 35 years, the program has supported projects in Southern Indiana, including the Falls of the Ohio State Park Interpretive Center, Culbertson Mansion State Historic Site, Vintage Fire Museum, RiverStage in Jeffersonville and improvements to the NoCo Arts and Cultural District.
As part of its 2024-2026 strategic plan, SoIN Tourism has also identified six priority categories of visitor experience into which it will pour its energy, support and resources:
• Small meetings/conferences
• Culinary/agri-tourism
• Sporting events
• Riverfront/Outdoor Recreation/Adventure Travel
• Arts, tradition and culture entertainment/festivals
•Business/Corporate Travel
“These six categories represent the biggest growth opportunities for Clark and Floyd counties,” said Jim Epperson, executive director of SoIN Tourism. “They will either attract new travel market segments where we are not currently competitive or complement SoIN’s established visitor experiences.”
