Cathay Pacific has just released its latest in-flight safety video, which focuses on promoting Hong Kong as a tourist destination, taking passengers on a tour of some of the most iconic sites around the city.
It’s no surprise that the video was created in close collaboration with the Hong Kong Tourism Board, but Cathay Pacific claims it includes all the “necessary safety protocols as well as educating customers in an informative and engaging way.”
However, the airline acknowledged that it wanted to use the video to showcase Hong Kong’s iconic landmarks and natural scenery.
At over six minutes long, it may be a bit of a challenge for passengers to pay attention to the entire video, which contains both English and Chinese instructions, and naturally it would take time to fit all the safety instructions in both languages.
As is often the case in the past, Cathay Pacific didn’t use an actual aircraft cabin for its latest video, which means passengers who aren’t confident speaking English or Chinese might have trouble understanding some of the more subtle instructions.
The video is due to be rolled out across Cathay Pacific flights on August 1, the same day that British Airways plans to release its new Bridgerton-inspired in-flight safety video.
