Travel trends analyst Mavrian used this new technology to eavesdrop on impromptu conversations about vacations on social media from January to October 2023. The results show that active, nature-based travel is a priority for travelers this year. Travel Intelligence Services then combined this with data on flight connections to destinations that best fit the upward trend.
For travelers visiting Europe, cultural tourism continues to be sought after, along with a growing interest in experiential travel. So Mavrian focused on destinations that are rich in active experiences and culturally appealing.

What are the top destinations in Europe in 2024?
France’s largest region, Nouvelle Aquitaine, took second place with the award-winning vineyards of Bordeaux, the castle-dotted Loire Valley and the glittering Basque seaside resort of Biarritz. The more intrepid will enjoy hiking and skiing in the Pyrenees in this region.
Third place went to the east of England, the country’s green heartland, with its laid-back Norfolk waterways and misty Cambridge marshes.
