TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Indonesia’s Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno has called on all parties to wait for the results of the investigation into the tourist helicopter crash that occurred in Badung, Bali, on Friday (19/7/24).
“While we are concerned, we are grateful that there were no casualties. However, this is an issue that must continue to be investigated and pursued and we should not blame each other while we await the results of the investigation,” he said on Saturday, July 20, 2024.
The minister said he was once offered a ride on a tourist helicopter.
“The helicopter had gone through the certification process and appears to have been airworthy. It was also operated by a competent team, but we are still awaiting the results of the investigation,” he added.
Uno said the helicopter was part of an aerial tour to view Bali’s beautiful scenery.
“Let us give them the ill-fated benefit of the doubt. We hope they will provide input on tourism activities using helicopters and other facilities,” he added.
He said he hopes that after the results are out, corrective measures will be taken promptly to ensure that tourism in Indonesia remains safe and comfortable.
“We want to ensure that tourism in Indonesia is safe and comfortable. Security and safety are the top priority for tourism in Indonesia,” Uno reiterated.
Earlier, the National Search and Rescue Agency’s (Basarnas) Operations Command Centre in Jakarta received a report that a helicopter (flight number PK-WSP) had made an emergency landing in Suluban district, Badung regency, Bali at 3:27pm local time on Friday.
