BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio (WTRF) — Every two years, the state of Ohio conducts a county-by-county study of tourism impacts.
The study was released recently and revealed that Belmont County’s numbers are on the rise.
The economic impact of tourism in Belmont County was found to be $281 million.
Local leaders say the county’s parks, museums, natural beauty, restaurants, festivals and shops generate a combined $36 million in tax revenue alone.
Direct visitor spending is up 16% compared to 2021, which not only brings in more visitors, but ultimately helps Belmont County residents by helping them spend money. Revenues from tourism provide a tax reduction of more than $700 for each household.”

Belmont County ranked second among 18 southeastern Ohio counties in tourism revenues.
Local leaders say there are always activities and events happening in Belmont County.
On Friday, there will be fireworks at Zion Retreat and RV Park.
On Saturday, Barkcamp State Park will host a celebration of Ohio State Park’s 75th anniversary.
The Burnsville Independence Day celebration will also take place on Saturday.
