In an unexpected development, a highly anticipated debate on climate change, focusing on super storms and earthquakes and their impact on tourism, has been postponed due to the devastating effects of Hurricane Beryl.
The storm caused major damage in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Lucia, Barbados and Jamaica.
Meanwhile, in the semi-finals of the cybersecurity and artificial intelligence debate, Elmore Stout High School from the British Virgin Islands defeated Knox College of Jamaica by a score of 1,038 to 996.
The win qualified them for the finals where they will face Precious Treasures International School from Turks and Caicos Islands.

The intense competition took place on Monday, July 9, 2024 and was streamed live on various platforms, including YouTube and the Turks and Caicos Islands Ministry of Tourism Facebook page.
Throughout the match, representatives from the British Virgin Islands Tourist Board and other Caribbean countries enthusiastically supported their respective teams.
Notably, Naomi Onfuju from the British Virgin Islands won the Best Speaker award. Although the Turks and Caicos Islands team of Ade Cushnie, Kiara McLean and Theo Silva put up a good fight, Elmore Stout High School came out on top with 941 points, narrowly beating Precious Treasures with 934 points.
The coaching staff included Luciana Weeks from the BVI and Maurissa Horne from the Turks and Caicos Islands.
