PHNOM PENH: Minister of Tourism Sok Sokkeng will lead a delegation from the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism to participate in the 3rd Cambodia-Thailand Bilateral Tourism Cooperation Ministerial Meeting in Bangkok, Kingdom of Thailand from 17 to 18 July 2024. The participation comes at the invitation of Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports Sermsak Pongpanit.
The Third Ministerial Meeting aims to strengthen the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on tourism cooperation signed between Cambodia and Thailand in 2014. The meeting will focus on several key agenda items: (1) discussing, exchanging and sharing views on tourism development in both countries, (2) updating the Joint Action Plan on Tourism Cooperation for 2023-2025, and (3) adopting a joint statement to strengthen and set new directions for bilateral tourism cooperation in accordance with the recommendations of the leaders of the two countries.
In addition, a bilateral meeting between the Cambodia Tourism Marketing Board (CTB) and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will also be held. The meeting aims to foster cooperation and private sector participation, and develop a joint action plan to boost tourist flows between the two countries and attract more international tourists. The effort is in line with the Ministry of Tourism’s strategic initiative “BUILD+3Ds”, which aims to expand and promote Cambodia’s tourism potential regionally and globally.
As part of the event, Minister Sok Sokkeng was invited to a luncheon hosted by Thailand’s Deputy Minister of Tourism and Sports, H.E. Pongpoom Vipatiphumiphrates, and attended a welcome dinner hosted by Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports, H.E. Sermsak Pongpanit, which provided a warm welcome to the Cambodian delegation ahead of their official consultations on 18 July 2024.
