Chico is a place like no other. Whether you grew up here, recently moved to the area, or just visit occasionally, know that Chico has its own special traditions and history that make it so unique. Probably.

There are a few things you should know:

Chico is home to Bidwell Park, one of the largest municipal parks in the country. Spread across 3,670 acres, this expansive park offers a variety of outdoor activities, from hiking and biking along scenic trails to swimming in Sycamore Pool. The city has a vibrant arts scene centered around the Chico Art Center. Located in a historic train depot, the Chico Art Center serves as a hub for artists and art enthusiasts, hosting galleries, workshops, and other community events. One of the pioneers of craft beer brewing in the United States, Sierra Nevada Brewing Company was founded in Chico in 1980. This iconic brewery has become synonymous with Chico, offering tours and tastings that captivate beer lovers from around the world. Chico Certified Farmers Market brings the community together with a wealth of local produce and artisan products. This market, which operates year-round, allows locals and visitors alike to connect with farmers, enjoy live music, and experience regional flavors in a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. . Chico is home to the National Yo-Yo Museum, home to the world’s largest collection of yo-yos and related memorabilia on public display. Visitors and residents can stop by to see the giant Big Yo, the world’s largest working wooden yo-yo, and participate in the annual National Yo-Yo Contest.
