The Malaysian state of Melaka (also known as Malacca) is poised to gain global recognition after it appointed iconic Chinese actress Fan Bingbing as its tourism ambassador.
Bing Bing will officially kick off her journey as the state’s tourism ambassador by visiting Melaka, Malaysia next month to promote “Visit Melaka” from 14 to 16 June 2024.

Melaka state Chief Minister Abu Rauf Yusoh posted on social media about his recent meeting with Bing Bing’s international manager Jersey Chong, saying he hopes the Chinese star’s arrival will attract more tourists to Melaka from Asia, especially China.
Who is Fan Bingbing?
Bing Bing rose to fame with her lead role in the 1998 drama series “My Fair Princess”. She gained popularity with the 2003 Chinese comedy film “Mobile Phone”, which became the highest-grossing Chinese film of that year. Her other notable works include “The Matrimony” (2007), “Lost in Beijing” (2007), “Buddha Mountain” (2011), and “Double Xposure” (2012).
Bingbing’s on-screen success has also translated into commercial force: she has consistently ranked in the top 10 of Forbes China’s Celebrity 100 list since 2006, and was one of the highest-earning celebrities from 2013 to 2017. She was also named to Time magazine’s prestigious 2017 “100 Most Influential People” list. She has her own beauty brand, Fun Beauty Secret.
