According to the announcement, these funding programs combine local marketing funds with state funding and are intended to increase visitor numbers and visitor spending by 2025. Local partners will contribute more than $9.2 million to the fund and provide more than $12.5 million in new marketing and event production activities focused on increasing overnight visitation to Virginia.
“The VTC marketing and sponsorship program is a powerful incentive to build tourism partnerships across Virginia, which is a strong part of our state’s economic ecosystem,” Youngkin said. “Across Virginia, the tourism industry recognizes the importance of having creative strategies to promote all that Virginia has to offer.”
