The Danville Economic Development and Tourism Office received a $32,500 grant from the Virginia Tourism Corporation’s Marketing Leverage Program.
According to a news release from the Office of Economic Development and Tourism, the city will use the grant to promote “Visit SoSi ‘So, Let’s Go,'” a digital marketing campaign that introduces Danville and Pittsylvania County to tourists within a four-hour drive of the area.
Governor Glenn Youngkin announced that the State Tourism Corporation’s Marketing Leverage Program has awarded more than $3.27 million to 268 local and regional tourism marketing programs across Virginia.
Youngkin’s announcement came during National Travel and Tourism Week.
“VTC’s marketing and sponsorship program is a powerful incentive to build tourism partnerships across Virginia, which is a strong part of our state’s economic ecosystem,” Youngkin said in a prepared statement. “Across Virginia, the tourism industry recognizes the importance of having creative strategies to promote all that Virginia has to offer. These grants will support those efforts and help bring thousands of additional visitors to Virginia to experience all that makes our state special.”

“Our region is reinventing itself, and we’re incredibly grateful to have partners like the Virginia Tourism Corporation helping us seize every opportunity as we navigate this path forward. They’re ready to double down on their investments for the benefit of our community,” Corey Bobe, Danville’s director of economic development and tourism, said in a prepared statement.
The City’s digital advertising campaign will use the www.VisitSoSi.com website to market to nearby residents and promote Dan River Area assets.
According to a news release, the campaign will focus on six pillars of the Visit SoSi brand: history and architecture, arts and culture, festivals and events, food and drink, adventure recreation and family-friendly itineraries.
“The Visit SoSi ‘So, Let’s Go’ campaign will help us capitalize on a real opportunity to build on tourism success over the past year and further demonstrate the benefits of regional tourism promotion at a time when many businesses and potential investors are watching and taking notice,” Tourism Manager Lisa Meriwether said in a prepared statement. “This campaign will reap benefits for years to come.”
