The Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism has partnered with Etihad Airways to launch the Abu Dhabi Stopover Campaign to promote tourism.
Etihad Airways CEO Antonoaldo Neves said on Tuesday that authorities hope to attract more than 100,000 visitors to Abu Dhabi over the next year through the program.
The campaign invites guests traveling through the UAE’s capital city to turn their trip into a complimentary stopover hotel stay and an “ultimate vacation” experience.
The announcement was made at an event at the Arabian Travel Market after the initial agreement was signed between DCT Abu Dhabi Tourism Director Saleh Al Gheziri and Mr Neves.
When booking a flight with Etihad Airways, travelers will now have the option to add a stopover and complimentary hotel stay as part of the online booking process.
You can choose to stay for 1 or 2 nights free at various luxury hotels in the city.
This offer is exclusive to Etihad Airways guests and stopover packages are only available when booked directly online.
Mr Al Geziri said the program would provide “an exciting introduction to the emirate for curious visitors”.
“This innovative initiative provides a snapshot of the diverse experiences available here, from entertainment and culture to leisure, and inspires travelers to return to Abu Dhabi and immerse themselves in the full experience.”
Abu Dhabi is working intensively to promote tourism.
The emirate recently announced the Abu Dhabi Tourism Strategy 2030, announced by Sheikh Khaled bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, which aims to increase the sector’s contribution to gross domestic product.
