TEHRAN – Considered one of the hottest spots on earth, Righe Yaran, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in Iran’s Rut Desert, has the potential to shine as a tourist destination, according to experts. It is said to be a diamond in the rough.
One local official, during a meeting dedicated to the planning of desert tourism events (Glorious East) in South Khorasan, emphasized that the region’s capabilities are underestimated.
“The desert creates a great attraction,” said Alireza Abbaszadeh. “Which one? [its charm] no less than the sea [nautical tourism]”
The official pointed to Rig Yaran as one of the hottest spots on the planet and highlighted the region’s hidden tourism potential.
Abbaszadeh further elaborated on the need to introduce these capabilities to tourists.
He outlined the lesser-known aspects of desert tourism, adding: “Despite everyone having seen the ocean at least once, desert exploration is somehow ignored.”
Furthermore, Alireza Ayenedar, head of state broadcasting, emphasized that South Khorasan is full of cultural capabilities.
He also expressed the readiness of local media to serve as a platform to showcase the region’s rich culture and capabilities.
Mr. Ayenedal further elaborated that the province has many historical and cultural sites and boasts great potential to be showcased more widely.
The official cited the South Khorasan Desert as a place that should be at the center of the agenda, noting that local broadcasters are ready to cooperate with professional content producers from across the country.
“South Khorasan province is a province of cultural heritage and boasts amazing capabilities,” Aienedal concluded. “This should be presented to domestic tourists and visitors to Japan through the media.”
The Rut Desert is located in southeastern Iran between the three provinces of Kerman, Sistan-Baluchestan, and South Khorasan.
