TEHRAN – A team of tourists from different countries visited the Iranian village of Esfahak and immersed themselves in the tranquility of the countryside.
Local tourism officials said on Saturday that Esfahak city witnessed the presence of 22 foreign tourists from various countries including Australia and the United Kingdom.
“During their two-day stay, the tourists participated in a workshop on the restoration of historic sites in the village,” Mohammad Arab further elaborated. “They also visited interesting places in the area.”

Highlighting tourism statistics in Esfahak, officials revealed that over 40 foreign tourists have stayed in the village during the past few months while exploring the Tabas UNESCO Global Geopark.
In 2020, Esfahak was awarded the TO-DO Award, which is awarded annually by the German Institute for Tourism Development.
This ancient village boasts a mild climate perfect for growing crops, with lush green scenery everywhere you look. The house is usually characterized by a dome-shaped roof and small windows.
In addition to handicrafts, local music has a special meaning for the villagers. Traditional songs and playing the local stringed instrument, the taal, are essential elements of village celebrations.
According to local tourism officials, Esfahak’s original essence was tragically changed by the magnitude 7.4 earthquake in 1978. After the earthquake, a new village was built adjacent to the old one, which suffered major damage. Today, with the active participation of local residents, the renovated village has been transformed into a tourist destination with many ecolodges.
