The 2024 Sustainable Tourism Conference held at the Radisson Grenada Beach Resort attracted over 200 participants.
Themed “The Five P’s for Caribbean Tourism’s Sustainability Legacy: People, Planet, Prosperity, Purpose and Partnerships”, the conference will provide insights and strategies to shape the future of Caribbean tourism. I did.
Representatives from the airline and cruise travel industry, the hotel and lodging sector, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provided valuable insight into the current status and future trends of the tourism industry.
This was followed by a Ministerial Roundtable that brought together Grenada’s government ministers, including the Minister of Tourism, Minister of Economic Development, Minister of Youth and Sports, and Minister of Climate Resilience, Environment and Renewable Energy. The panel discussion discussed intersectoral collaboration and collaborative efforts to foster cooperation and growth in Grenada and the Caribbean region as a whole towards a sustainable future.
The panel on Purpose-Driven Tourism included industry experts who are putting a sense of purpose into their properties, from publications to green hotels to conservation experts. Their presentation provided an example of what is possible when purpose guides action.
Discussions on partnerships highlighted the transformative potential of working with private sector stakeholders in driving long-term change within the industry, and the importance of bridging gaps and fostering mutual collaboration. It was emphasized.
The day’s masterclass will focus on FU-Tech Tourism, with panelists presenting the latest developments in data and digital platforms, advances in artificial intelligence and virtual reality applications, and highlighting the role of technology in shaping the future of tourism. did.
The conference concluded with a panel called “Convergence Points” that looked at how the tourism industry can move towards sustainability by aligning its approach along the 5 P’s and fostering collaboration across sectors. The session provided a strategic roadmap to collectively move forward towards a more sustainable future.
