Hainan province will host the overseas travel agency Hainan Tour 2024, jointly organized by China Tourism Academy, Hainan Provincial Culture, Radio, Television and Sports Bureau and Sanya Municipal People’s Government, from June 24 to 29, 2024. The event aims to promote the “Inbound Tourism Promotion Plan” launched by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the national tourism image campaign “Nihao! China”, boosting cultural and tourism exchanges between China and other countries, expanding Hainan’s international tourism market and strengthening precision marketing efforts overseas.
With the theme of “Journey to Discover the World”, the event will host a series of events including the Hainan Tour 2024 for overseas travel agents, the Sino-foreign travel trade negotiation event, the launch of the “Hello! China”-2024 Silk Road tourism overseas promotion season, and the Hainan Sanya Tourism Welcome Ceremony.
The activities will spotlight the richness of Hainan’s tourism routes, products and culture. The China Tourism Academy will release the 2023 China Inbound Tourism Development Annual Report and Hainan International Tourism Consumption Area Construction Report, while the Hainan Provincial Culture and Tourism Bureau will showcase local cultural highlights.
For the first time, the event will feature professional travel industry exchange and negotiation sessions, facilitating direct business relationships between Hainan tourism authorities and overseas travel agencies. The initiative aims to promote high-quality tourism products, establish brand identity and foster tourism cooperation agreements, thereby strengthening Hainan’s tourism sector.
As a key hub of the “21st Century Maritime Silk Road”, Hainan Province has strategically aligned the Belt and Road cooperation with the construction of a free trade port to enhance its openness to the outside world. As a member of the International Silk Road Cities Tourism Alliance, Sanya will cooperate with the National Institute of Cultural Excellence (NICE) and Hainan Provincial Culture and Tourism Department to host the “Hello! China” – 2024 Silk Road Tourism Overseas Promotion Season and the Hainan Province Sanya Tourism Welcome Ceremony.
The initiative aims to enhance Hainan’s international cultural and tourism influence by showcasing the island’s abundant resources and latest inbound tourism policies.
To deepen cultural and tourism exchanges with other countries, the event will feature sessions to promote Hainan’s tourism routes and products, and invite overseas travel industry representatives to experience the island’s scenic coastal roads, ethnic culture, rainforests and other distinctive attractions. The immersive experience aims to enhance understanding and cooperation between Hainan and global tourism stakeholders.
With Hainan on track to achieve independent customs operations in 2025 and serving as a frontier for comprehensive reform and opening-up, the province’s tourism industry is poised to experience significant growth. Overseas tour operators’ Hainan Tour 2024 will leverage global travel industry resources to position Hainan as a premier international tourism destination, attract investment and increase its global recognition. This strategic initiative will promote the integrated development of cultural tourism, conferences, exhibitions and business sectors, and promote positioning Hainan as an international tourism consumption centre in line with the strategic objectives.
