Admission fees will be waived at more than 400 national parks nationwide on Saturday, the first day of the nine-day certification, according to the National Park Service.

NPS says the designation honors all of the country’s parks, which are committed to “protecting our natural and cultural heritage and providing recreational opportunities across the country.”

What special events does the National Park Service hold?

Apart from the one-day free admission on April 20, the NPS is holding a variety of events across the country to celebrate the national parks.

On Earth Day, April 22nd, the National Park Service will be recruiting volunteers for a variety of events highlighting the need to be proactive in helping clean up our parks.

‘But why?’: Investigators searching for two men with record of destroying Lake Mead’s ancient rock formations

On April 27, NPS will host Junior Ranger Day, with both in-person and online activities to give children and adults the opportunity to learn what it’s like to be forest keepers.

A complete list of Park Service daily happenings can be found on the Park Service website.

What national parks are there in Arizona?

Arizona’s 22 national parks are spread across the state and vary in topography, from the canyon-lined channels of Lake Mead to the remains of petrified forests.

The NPS list of protected areas in Arizona also included indigenous communities and ruins of Spanish colonial settlements.

Northern Arizona is home to seven national parks that span much of the state, and parts of the state are still experiencing warm spring weather, creating perfect conditions for exploring the parks.

NPS encourages travelers to plan ahead to enjoy their trip in the most exciting and safest way possible.
