The venue for the event, George Everest Peak, is a major tourist attraction in Mussoorie that offers spectacular views of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks and Doon Valley. The Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board in collaboration with Starscapes, India’s leading astronomy tourism company, is jointly organising the event which concludes today, June 2.

Following this, astronomy tourism events will be organised in several other places in the country including Harshil Jadun, Benithal, Rishikesh, Jageshwar and Ramnagar. As part of the event, various activities were organised, including learning astrophotography from experts, stargazing with specialised equipment, observing the sun through sun glasses and H-alpha filters, navigation and time management. There were also expert talks on astrotourism, astrophotography competitions and astronomy demonstrations. The state tourism department, in line with the vision of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, is working to promote multifaceted tourism activities in the state apart from religious tourism.
Uttarakhand Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj said the government is committed to ensuring that tourists visiting the state return home with a better experience and the Nakshatra Sabha is a step in that direction.
