KATHMANDU, June 16: The two-day Nepal International Tourism Fair, held with an aim to promote tourism at the international level, concluded on Saturday.
At the closing ceremony of the fair, which was organised by Summit Events Market with the support of Nepal Tourism Board and Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC), Deputy Mayor of KMC Sunita Dangol said that such programmes need to continue to boost tourism in Nepal. She further assured that KMC will always support and help in promoting Kathmandu’s heritage and tourist sites. Dangol urged the fair participants to visit their respective countries and inform people about Nepal’s tourist sites.
Nepal Tourism Board Vice Chairman Ram Prasad Sapkota said the fair has helped promote Nepal’s tourism in the international market and commended the efforts of the private sector.
The tourism fair was also attended by Tourism Malaysia and the Bihar Tourism Board of India, with 150 tourism professionals from 16 countries exhibiting at booths.
Vishnu Pandey, managing director of Summit Events Market, said the two-day fair attracted over 5,000 visitors. The fair also featured group discussions on tourism promotion. Following the successful conclusion of the first fair, which was organised by the private sector, the organisers also announced that the second edition will be held on May 30 and 31 next year.
