TEHRAN – Alborz University of Medical Sciences has become the first in the country to receive approval to establish a master’s program in medical tourism, marking an important milestone in the fields of education and healthcare in Iran.
“This pioneering initiative aims to nurture a new generation of skilled professionals in the fast-growing field of medical tourism,” the university’s vice chancellor for education revealed on Tuesday. “Furthermore, graduates will be equipped with the capabilities to manage various units operating in this field.”
Dr. Shahrouz Yazdani said the approval was the result of persistent efforts by the Alborz University authorities and following a decision by the Medical University Development Council.
He highlighted the broad impact of the program, noting potential benefits in educational development, economic growth, job creation and enhanced medical tourism across the country.
“Currently, about half of medical tourists enter the country through intermediaries,” Dr. Yazdani noted, emphasizing that the professional and accredited services provided by graduates of the program will enable them to make significant contributions to all aspects of the medical tourism sector, including service providers and intermediaries.
