Following Vietnam and Malaysia, Iran concluded its East Asia Tourism Roadshow with a significant event in Jakarta, Indonesia, an initiative aimed at boosting tourism cooperation between these countries and Iran and attracting more tourists.
Event highlightsEvent in Jakarta: Key Iranian and Indonesian officials and private sector leaders gathered for business meetings and discussions on future tourism agreements. Key discussions: Iranian Deputy Minister of Tourism Ali Asghar Sharbafian met with Indonesian Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Martini Mohammad Parham, emphasizing the importance of such events in strengthening bilateral relations. Tourism attractions: Sharbafian highlighted Iran’s diverse tourism attractions, including religious, cultural, handicraft, culinary and medical tourism, and pointed out Iran’s reputation for high-tech healthcare in the Middle East. Agreements and cooperationDirect flights: Iranian Ambassador to Indonesia Mohammad Boroujerdi discussed the progress in obtaining permission for direct flights between Iran and Indonesia. Memorandum of understanding: A memorandum of understanding was signed between Chairman of the Iranian Tourism Association Mustafa Shafiei Shakib and General Chairman of the Indonesia Tourism Association Central Executive Committee, Tour and Travel Association (ASITA), Nunun Rusmiati. B2B Meeting: Travel agencies held B2B meetings to foster cooperation that is expected to boost tourism numbers in both countries.
