The Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) will celebrate the Year of Japan-U.S. Tourism with a commemorative “May the Force Be With You in Japan” float at the 3rd Japan Parade in New York. The festivities begin at 1 p.m., and the parade route continues along Central Park West from 81st Street to 67th Street.
The float will include members of the Japan Parade and Japan Society, as well as fans in costume officially invited by Lucasfilm. Star Wars Celebration, the ultimate Star Wars fan event, will be held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba from April 18th to April 20th, 2025. To commemorate this occasion, JNTO will be holding a sweepstakes where you can win a free trip to Japan. Sweepstakes details will be announced online on May 11th. Shingo Kunieda, a star wheelchair tennis player and four-time Japanese Paralympic gold medalist, has been appointed as this year’s grand marshal, and there will also be a live performance at the parade. By the cast of “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba The Stage,” a musical stage adaptation of the popular anime and manga series “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.” The parade will also include performances by taiko drum bands, Bon dance groups, martial arts groups, and more.
Alongside the Japan Parade, the Japan Street Fair will be held on West 72nd Street, with more than 20 food tents serving authentic Japanese street food. The street fair will also feature his JNTO tent showcasing the best of Japan travel, as well as cultural activities such as calligraphy, water balloon yo-yo fishing, origami, and taking photos with Hello Kitty. The charity tent will collect donations for the victims of the Noto Earthquake, and as a thank you they will be giving out free Japan Parade tote bags. JNTO also recently released a special video message from Masahiro Yoshida of the Boston Red Sox, whose hometown in the Hokuriku region was affected by the disaster.
