As part of its drive to boost small and medium-sized enterprises, the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture in collaboration with Naija Brand Chick has launched the three-day trade fair aimed at providing a platform for local businesses to thrive amidst tough economic times.
The event, which began on Friday, attracted around 220 vendors to display a diverse range of products and services.
Special Adviser on Tourism to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Idris Aregbe, stressed the importance of the fair as part of the state’s enterprise support and development strategy.
“We have a master plan in Lagos and we are following it. Our aim is to broaden the scope of tourism in Lagos, emphasizing that it is not just about entertainment and events, but also about engaging with creative people and impacting the lives of all Lagosians,” Aregbe said.
Addressing the wider economic challenges affecting the ease of doing business in Nigeria, Aregbe reaffirmed that Lagos State Government is committed to ensuring the survival of Small and Medium Enterprises.
He urged business leaders to work with the government to produce a win-win outcome.
“Governments cannot do this alone. We need the cooperation of individuals and partners,” he explained.
Aregbe also spoke of the broader vision of promoting Lagos as the gateway to Africa.
He called on all Lagos and Nigerians to support the initiative, stressing that a functional Lagos and Nigeria requires joint efforts.
“This is about looking at Africa through the lens of Lagos and making sure that we spread the Lagos influence globally,” he said.
