There are many things in London that we think are doing our best, but are actually falling a little short. We don’t have the cheapest rent, we don’t have many 24-hour nightclubs, and transportation seems permanently cut off. But if there’s one thing we excel at, it’s our lovely beautiful parks. We all know that London has many parks. In fact, new research has revealed that it has the most green space of any European city. Hear that, Berlin.
The study was conducted by comparison website Nerd Wallet and looked at Europe’s 30 most populous cities. London came out on top with its 3,000 parks and green spaces. Second place on the list was Berlin with 2,500 parks, and third place was Vienna with 2,000 parks. Compared to cities like Barcelona and Rome, we are far ahead as these cities have 114 and 63 green spaces respectively.
And regardless of your preferences, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a green space in our city you don’t like. There are huge royal parks like Hyde and Regent’s. Large natural areas with plenty of swimming pools, including Hampstead Heath and Richmond. Little green patches like Highbury Fields, mysterious green cemeteries like Highgate and Abney Park. Wake up and smell the fresh air.
Here is a complete list of major European cities with green spaces:
London – 3,000 Berlin – 2,500 Vienna – 2,000 Hamburg – 1,460 Paris – 480 Dublin – 303 Prague – 200 Barcelona – 114 Marseille – 68 Rome – 63
