Tourism Malaysia has announced the appointment of Ahmad Johanif Mohammed Ali as Director General of Tourism Malaysia, New Delhi, effective immediately.
Ahmad Johanif Mohamed Ali has over 34 years of experience in tourism promotion and international relations. During his career with Tourism Malaysia, an agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, he is noted for his significant achievements and dedication in promoting Malaysia as an exceptional tourist destination, showcasing the country’s unique charm, attractions and culture.
During his tenure with Tourism Malaysia, Mr Ahmad Johanif Mohamed Ali has received prestigious awards and commendations for his exemplary service, including the Silver Medal Award from the Governor of Sarawak in September 2012, the Long Service Award from Tourism Malaysia in April 2011 and the Bintang Khidmat Terpuji (BKT) Award from the Governor of Melaka in October 2007.

In addition to his numerous accolades, Ahmad Johanif Mohamed Ali has held senior management positions within Tourism Malaysia including:
Senior Deputy Director of Package Development Department (January 2021 to present): Supervise the niche tourism product team and lead the intelligent unit to ensure the positive development of the industry.
Senior Vice President, Human Resources (Jan 2019 – Jan 2021): Map out talent needs, succession planning, staff movements, and implement job rotations to establish leadership at all levels.
Senior Vice President, International Promotions (July 2017 to January 2019): Provided strategic leadership in promoting Malaysia to international markets.
Tourism Malaysia said in a statement that Ahmad Johanif Mohamed Ali’s strong skills in public speaking, event management, marketing and sales have served him well in his various leadership roles within the organisation.
Hong Kong Tourism Board and Art Basel Announce Three-Year Global Partnership
Under this new strategic alliance, the Hong Kong Tourism Board will promote Hong Kong’s vibrant arts and culture scene on the international stage as Art Basel’s show partner. The partnership will span all Art Basel shows around the world, starting with Art Basel Paris in October 2024. The Hong Kong Tourism Board aims to highlight Hong Kong as a hub for international cultural exchange and a gateway to the China art market.
On the education front, Ahmad Johanif Mohd Ali completed his Master of Business Administration in Tourism Management from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) achieving an outstanding CGPA of 4.0. He also completed an Associate Degree in Tourism Management, also from UiTM.

Expressing his enthusiasm for his new role, Ahmad Johanif Mohamed Ali said, “I am honoured to have the opportunity to further strengthen ties between Malaysia and India and promote Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage, natural beauty and vibrant tourism attractions to Indian travellers.”
