In 2024, the Michelin Guide will unveil the first-ever Michelin Key, an entirely new distinction recognizing the best hotels around the world. Faena Hotel Miami Beach is a two-key hotel in Florida. Please see the selection team’s official statement here.
Below, take a look at the design of one of the country’s most impressive hotels.

The aesthetic of Miami Beach postcards is predictable, for better or worse. Art Deco curves, sun-faded pastel paint, perfectly manicured palm trees. But the Faena Hotel Miami Beach, which just won one of Michelin’s new Key Awards, blows all that convention away with its turquoise-her-blue waters.
Launched in Buenos Aires in 2004, the U.S. outpost of Argentine hotelier Alan Faena’s eponymous concept is in a design class of its own. Its maximum, quirky and striking look isn’t for everyone, but even if its flashy visuals aren’t your cup of tea, you can still appreciate it.
There are many things to see. Once inside, a panel mural depicts the “mythology” of Faena through ultra-baroque scenes. See also: macaw, skull, pelican, pegasus, toucan, bleeding heart, winged rose. This immersive entrance is courtesy of artist Juan Gatti, and the installation is called “Road to Hootopia” (the hotel’s first initial plus a winking F). .
Continue through this zoo to the opposite door and you’ll find Faena’s crowning jewel. This is Damien Hirst’s monumental work ‘Gone But Not Forgotten’, which depicts the skeleton of a 3 meter high woolly mammoth in dazzling gold plate. Flashy and breathtaking, and despite being very expensive (over 15 million British pounds), it has benefited from word of mouth and social media exposure (the most Instagrammed in all of Florida) This is one of his sites).
There is no shortage of people taking photos in front of the ancient bones. Gone, but certainly not forgotten.

When you check in, you’ll see a white neon Tracey Emin piece that says ‘Just Let Me Love You’. Boasting an outdoor deck that stretches out to the stunning ocean, the penthouse is decorated with colorful photos of Kelly and Tony, behind her two gold velvet chairs with orchids.
Back downstairs, in the hidden bar, wood and lacquer panels depict a pair of eyes staring at patrons. This piece is by Argentinian artist Amaya Bouquet. In the living room, leopard-print and tiger-print sofas create a cozy and intimate atmosphere, even though they look noisy at first glance. The circular golden chandelier above creates an atmosphere. It all comes together somehow to create this kind of fantasy release. Probably unlike anything you’ve seen before.
Faena Hotel Miami Beach is a world-class luxury hotel with many features, but design is definitely one of its biggest draws. It’s wild, crazy, and fun, and it makes you wonder, why not escape to utopia?
