Most Visited Frequent Flyer and Travel Sites (You’ll be surprised by the results for #1, #7, and #9)

Written by Gary Leff, April 20, 2024

A year ago, I looked at the frequent flyer and travel sites that were getting the most traffic. I noted that “most frequently accessed” is not the same as “best”, but many people had strong opinions about it.

Actually I agree with you too. The order of this list is not close to the list of best sites I created, but for those who want an estimate of the sites with the most traffic, here is a ranked list of 14 popular websites. Shown here.

Some notes:

The data is from SimilarWeb, and I think it’s a good estimate overall, but it’s wrong in some cases, sometimes by a lot, but still by an order of magnitude. useful. This only looks at his March 2024 data, the most recent month available. Let’s compare it with his March 2023 data posted last year. Like last year, his March this year could have been a good month for any site, or it could have been a bad month. These are just his two data points. I have selected a few sites, but if you feel that other sites should be listed here as well or you want to compare them, you can explore them yourself without an account.

Ignoring these limitations, here are the 14 sites I checked and SimilarWeb’s March 2024 site visit predictions.

Website March 2024 March 2023 Change The Points Guy 11,900,000 13,100,000 -9% View From The Wing 5,100,000 6,500,000 -22% Dan’s Deals 5,100,000 5,500,000 -7% Doctor of Credit 5,000,000 5,2 00,000 -4% Flyer Talk 4,400,000 2,800,000 57 % 1 mile each 4,100,000 5,200,000 -21% Upgrade points 2,800,000 5,600,000 -50% Frugal travelers 2,100,000 2,600,000 -19% Frequent milers 1,700,000 853,000 99% Aim for points 1 ,600,000 1,100,000 45% Paddle your own canoe1,300,000 2,100,000 -38 % Live and Fly 1,300,000 1,200,000 8% Nomad Matt 1,100,000 1,500,000 -27% Loyalty Lobby 884,200 1,200,000 -26%

One of the surprising things is that the number of websites receiving traffic is decreasing (in some cases drastically decreasing).

Google has made some big changes, with August’s Core Update followed by September’s Helpful Content Update taking a big hit. The March 2024 update brings even more to many sites. Overall, Google currently privileges the biggest brands and Reddit far more in its results.

This was a boon for Reddit right before going public. And I’m sure it was pure coincidence that Reddit struck a deal with Google to allow its data to be used to train Google’s AI. Of course, Google is trying to answer more queries through AI when searching.

I can only speculate that this explains the drop in traffic for The Points Guy (#1) and the absolutely massive drop in Upgraded Points (#7), which seemed to be written primarily for Google. you can’t. I’m incredibly impressed with the growth of my frequent miler (#9) here.

The people on this list either write on their own or in groups of three or four, and I think they’re really great. Of these, I think my must-read books are “One Mile at Time,” “Frequent Miler,” and “Live and Let’s Fly.” However, I read and click on the headlines of just about any site that reports miles, points, or anything related to travel. Through everything that it seems like I should know or should know.

And if anyone knows of better public data than SimilarWeb, I’d definitely be interested.
