Nashville’s tourism numbers continue to break records, surpassing national numbers

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Tourism and visitor spending in Nashville is breaking records and is expected to remain strong for the foreseeable future.

New data released by the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corporation (NCVC) shows that the number of visitors to Music City will reach a record high of 16.8 million in 2023, up 4% from 16.2 million in 2022.

Forecasts show attendance reaching 17.1 million in 2024 and 17.5 million the following year in 2025. Attendance is expected to continue to grow steadily from then on, reaching 18.1 million in 2027, when the new Nissan Stadium opens.

By 2033, Nashville’s annual visitor numbers are projected to surpass the 20 million mark.

Nashville will see a record high in visitor spending of $10.56 billion in 2023, with visitors spending an average of $29 million per day, according to the release.

Forecasts show visitor spending is expected to grow to $10.84 billion in 2024 and $12.07 billion by 2027.

Adam Sachs, president of Tourism Economics, said Nashville is outperforming the rest of the country and its competitors in terms of air traffic and occupancy rates. He projects room demand, rates and revenues will continue to grow at a moderate pace each year through 2026.

“Nashville has been named the world’s top tourist destination by leading travel companies for 13 consecutive years, and our industry is proud to contribute to the city’s success by creating jobs, generating tax revenue and driving economic growth for local businesses,” NCVC President and CEO Deanna Ivey said in a statement.
