ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Today is National Parks Week. It’s a nine-day celebration of every national park, trail, and monument in the country. There are more than a dozen in New Mexico.
We would like to introduce the theme days scheduled until Sunday, April 28th.
Monday, April 22nd: Earth Day. Join us at a global celebration that encourages education and stewardship of the earth’s natural resources. Volunteer events are held at many parks. You can also find ways to practice conservation at home. Tuesday, April 23: Innovation. Our nation’s history of innovation is preserved in our national parks. Also, learn about the innovative projects taking place in the park today. Wednesday, April 24: Workforce Wednesday. Meet our amazing workforce: employees, interns, fellows, volunteers, contractors, partners, and more. Thursday, April 25: Youth participation. We’re recruiting a new generation of stewards! Learn about opportunities for youth and young adults to get involved. Friday, April 26: Community Connections. Learn about our important outreach programs and partners in communities across the country, within and beyond park boundaries. Saturday, April 27: Junior Ranger Day. Become a Junior Ranger for kids (and kids at heart) with in-person or online activities to learn about special places and topics. You might also earn a Junior Ranger badge. Sunday, April 28: Art in the Park. Home to a wealth of art, past and present, discover the muses that create art within the park. Also learn about art preservation and practice in local communities.
