National Parks Week begins on Saturday, April 20th with free admission to all National Parks.montana news

MONTANA – In conjunction with the start of National Parks Week, the National Park Service will waive admission fees to all national parks on Saturday, April 20th.

National Parks Week begins on Saturday, April 20th and runs through Sunday, April 28th.

According to the NPS website, the reason for waiving admission fees is to give everyone the opportunity to enjoy the national parks first-hand.

In addition to one day of free admission, National Parks Week features a different theme each day of the event.

The NPS website describes the theme for each day of National Parks Week 2024 as follows:

“Saturday, April 20th: Discovery. What will you discover? New places, new interesting facts, new activities… To kick off National Parks Week and encourage that new discovery, April 20th will be The fee will be free.

April 21st (Sunday): Volunteer. Use your time and talents as a national park volunteer. Find opportunities to volunteer at single events or long-term positions.

Monday, April 22nd: Earth Day. Join us at a global celebration that encourages education and stewardship of the earth’s natural resources. Volunteer events are held at many parks. You can also find ways to practice conservation at home.

Tuesday, April 23rd: Innovation. Our nation’s history of innovation is preserved in our national parks. Also, learn about the innovative projects happening in the parks and through our programs today.

Wednesday, April 24: Workers’ Wednesday. Meet our amazing people: employees, interns, fellows, volunteers, contractors, partners, and more. Please consider joining our team.

Thursday, April 25: Youth participation. We’re recruiting a new generation of stewards! Learn about opportunities for youth and young adults to get involved and see what your peers are doing.

Friday, April 26: Community Connections. Learn about the important work our programs and partners are doing in communities across the country, inside and outside park boundaries.

Saturday, April 27th: Junior Ranger Day. Become a Junior Ranger for kids (and kids at heart) with in-person or online activities to learn about special places and topics. You might even earn a Junior Ranger Badge!

April 28th (Sunday): Art in the park. Home to a wealth of art, past and present, discover the muse that creates art within the park. Also, learn about preserving and practicing the arts in your community through our programs and the work of our partners. ”
