Saturday marks the start of National Parks Week, and authorities are celebrating by reducing entrance fees to all national parks in the country.

There are approximately 430 national parks in the United States, and every state has at least one. Not all establishments charge an admission fee, but over 100 establishments that do have admission fees waived on Saturdays.
“With countless options for things to do and see, our national parks truly have something for everyone,” National Park Service Director Chuck Sams said in a statement earlier this month. “During National Parks Week and throughout the year, National Parks and the National Park Service’s community programs encourage people to discover and enjoy natural, cultural, historical and recreational opportunities.”
As part of National Parks Week, officials will highlight aspects of the National Park Service with theme days such as:
Saturday, April 20: Discovery Sunday, April 21: Volunteer Monday, April 22: Earth Day Tuesday, April 23: Innovation Wednesday, April 24, Workforce Wednesday Thursday, April 25: Youth Engagement April 26 Friday: Community Connection Saturday, April 27th: Junior Ranger Day Sunday, April 28th: Art in the Parks
Saturday will be the second free day of admission to national parks this year, after admission fees were waived on Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday in January. The following four additional free admission days are scheduled on the National Park Service site:
June 19th: June 11th National Independence Day August 4th: Great American Outdoors Act Day September 28th: National Public Lands Day November 11th: Veterans Day
