CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – Nevis’s tourism sector has recovered better than expected since the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Premier Mark Brantley, Minister of Tourism for the Nevis Island Administration (NIA).
Nevis Island Government’s Minister of Tourism, Premier Mark Brantley;
“I’m very pleased to see that tourism in Nevis has bounced back very significantly,” he said at a press conference on May 28. “Not just a rebound, but numbers that the island has never seen before, numbers that are higher than they were before the pandemic. Tourism in Nevis right now is absolutely phenomenal.”
The Prime Minister reported that revenue from the 2% Tourist Development Tax (TDL), which is levied on restaurant and hotel room rates, for March 2024 increased by 7.45% over March 2023. Additionally, the Prime Minister revealed that TDL revenue for April increased by 2.41% over 2023, and TDL revenue for May increased by 16.73% over the same period in 2023.
“That translates into profits of $364,035 in March, $523,711 in April and $441,317 so far in May.”
“May revenues are up 22.3% compared to pre-COVID figures for 2019. May is typically seen as the month when revenues start to decline significantly as it is the start of the low season. I commend the NTA. [Nevis Tourism Authority] I would like to thank the NTA Board of Directors, led by Devon Liburd and his team, for the great work they have done so far.”

Prime Minister Brantley attributed the island’s tourism growth to potential and increasing demand for Nevis’s unique tourism product – the authentic Caribbean experience.
“I think more and more discerning guests are beginning to realise what a special place Nevis is,” he said.
The Minister also credited the marketing efforts of Four Seasons Resorts as a driving force. [Nevis] Thanks to marketing and new air traffic to St. Kitts’ Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport, tourism in Nevis is on the rise.
