Visit Quad Cities received a $50,000 grant from the Regional Development Authority (RDA) as part of the spring grant cycle. The funding will support the organization’s efforts to promote tourism, host events in the Quad Cities, and promote economic development in the region.
In the spring grant cycle, the RDA awarded $2,019,680 to 75 grant recipients, focusing on workforce services, arts and culture, education and economic development. The group aims to strategically fund efforts that create vibrant, inclusive and growing communities.
“We are extremely grateful to the Department of Regional Development for this generous grant and investment,” said Joanne Kranovich, Vice President of Business Growth and Director of Sports QC for Visit Quad Cities. “Support from RDA will greatly enhance our business development and event acquisition efforts as our team continues to actively bid, recruit, and host a diverse range of events. In addition to increasing tourism, the initiative aims to foster economic growth, create a more vibrant community for residents, and position the Quad-Cities as a premier destination for meetings, group business, and sporting events. Grant funds will be used to cover bid fees, facility rental, equipment and transportation rental, event sponsorship fees, and other event incentives. They do not support the operational costs of Visit Quad Cities as an organization, but are aligned with VQC’s mission to compete with other destinations for business opportunities. VQC directly recruits businesses from the group, which will generate a minimum annual economic impact of more than $30 million.
