Shocking video shows the moment a serial criminal pulls out a giant knife and stabs a passing tourist near Times Square in a horrifying, unprovoked attack.

Video of Saturday evening’s attack shows a man using a walker to exit the Port Gourmet Deli on West 43rd Street and Eighth Avenue, wandering outside the storefront, and then lunging at an unsuspecting woman on the sidewalk. The situation is reflected.

In the video, the suspect can be seen leaving the store and sitting outside in a walker, wearing a bright yellow sweatshirt under a dark jacket and an orange hat.

Two women were seen walking towards him when he suddenly jumped up from his seat and revealed a large knife.

The footage shows the suspect limping forward and stabbing one of the women in the chest.

Three women were then seen backing away from the man, who then returned to his seat outside the storefront with a displayed knife in his lap.

Approximately two minutes later, the footage shows two officers approaching the man, forcing him to drop the knife, and handcuffing him.

The suspect in the attack, Cyril Destin, 62, has been arrested 14 times in the past 20 years, mostly for criminal mischief and trespassing, including four arrests since 2019. police sources told the Post.

Destin was taken to Bellevue and remained there Sunday morning.

Charges against him are pending.

Jamal Mbale, 56, who has owned Port of Gourmet Deli since 1994, said the suspect lives in a homeless shelter across the street and visits Newport 100 regularly to buy cigarettes. He told the Post that he was at the store on a regular basis.

“I’ve known this guy for a year. He doesn’t seem dangerous. I think he just didn’t take his medication or something,” Mbale told the Post. “All the people at the homeless shelter across the street are crazy. They’re all on drugs.”

Mbale said they had to stop selling beer, cigars, rolling papers and even lighters because people coming from the shelters stole them.

“He calls me Bobby. He comes here to buy cigarettes, Newport 100. Yesterday he came in and bought a pack of Newport 100, and with a $20 bill. He pays, usually with a $20 bill. He comes in, buys cigarettes, and goes outside to sit in a walker. He has a walker-like chair with wheels. ” Mbare said.

Mr Mbale said the suspect did just that yesterday, but is suspected of assaulting two women who came out of a gift shop next door.

“He went outside and was sitting in his walker smoking a cigarette, and two women came out of the gift shop and he just went and punched one of them. I didn’t know. And he just sat there and smoked like I didn’t do anything.”

The victim, a 46-year-old woman, was also taken to Bellevue and treated for a stab wound to the chest.

Her condition was stable on Saturday.
