Julie Perry is the new director of the Orange County Economic Development and Tourism Department.

The former deputy director has extensive experience in tourism marketing from his time at the City of Fredericksburg Economic Development and Tourism Authority and the Virginia Tourism Authority, and joined the local government team in early 2022, according to a statement from Orange County.
Perry’s work with the Edna Lewis Media Events and Menu Trail programs has earned Orange County state and national awards of excellence.
This includes the installation of a highway sign in Lewis’ honor by the Virginia Department of Historic Resources on April 13th. The multi-year program has secured more than 30 media placements in local, state and national publications on behalf of Lewis and Orange counties, a county statement said.

Perry has overseen the Orange Uncovered storytelling initiative, Corks and Caps Craft Beverage Trail, Gordonsville Fried Chicken social marketing campaign efforts and steady growth in tourism awareness leveraging the Simply Southern platform. Perry has also contributed to the multifaceted Enjoy Orange initiative, which promotes local businesses and encourages both residents and visitors to shop local.
Under her leadership, Orange County celebrated the expansion of the county’s McMillian Publishing facility, announced VA Brownfield Grant Awards for two facilities, and Commonwealth’s incentivizing Aerojet Rocketdyne’s $41.2 million expansion. -Received an Opportunity Fund Award and advanced efforts to improve site readiness.
