As of last week, all three Disney resorts in Asia were closed due to the coronavirus outbreak. And now some say it looks like a ghost town.
Shanghai Disney Resort closed first. It is the closest Disney resort to the epicenter of the outbreak, Wuhan, China, and is the only Disney resort in mainland China. Hong Kong Disneyland soon followed suit, with part of its grounds set aside for later expansion and leased by the government to set up quarantine facilities. Tokyo Disney Resort has closed for the last time due to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s reluctant request to all citizens and businesses in the Japanese capital. We will be closed until March 16th.
All four Disney theme parks at these three resorts have become their own ghost towns. Tokyo Disney is the only resort in Asia with its two parks: Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. And we have the photos to prove it.

Status of other Disney theme parks
If other Disney resorts are to close due to the coronavirus outbreak, my current favorite is Disneyland Paris. The French government, led by President Emmanuel Macron, has banned groups of more than 5,000 people from gathering indoors. The Louvre is currently closed and Disney+ has canceled press events in Europe. No matter how you look at it, it seems like it’s only a matter of time.
Disneyland Paris issued the following statement to guests regarding the potential closure.
“Disneyland Paris is open and welcoming visitors as usual. We are working closely with health authorities and following their recommendations and monitoring the situation closely. Disneyland Paris is an exemplary We are applying sanitation procedures and high standards of hygiene and cleanliness. You can check the park’s opening hours at this link: alc.cx/b3tn Have a great day ” Disneyland, Anaheim, California. Resorts (Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida) have no immediate plans to close and are maintaining normal theme park operations. Disneyland and Disney World have not yet released a statement on this matter. The last time Walt Disney World was closed was during Hurricane Dorian in 2019. Florida resorts have never been closed due to illness.
Do you think more Disney theme parks will be closed? Are you still planning on going to Disneyland or Walt Disney World under these circumstances, or will you change your travel plans? When will Asian resorts like Shanghai and Hong Kong be closed? Do you think it will reopen? Let us know in the comments!
