Qatar’s tourism sector records over 2 million visitors in first four months of 2024
In a bid to boost the tourism sector and attract visitors, Qatar Tourism has launched its Eid Al Adha and Summer Tourism Guide, outlining the events, activities and offers that Qatar will host from June to August.
Qatar Tourism said in a recent statement that the tourism guide includes Eid Al Adha activities, outdoor experiences, beach destinations, luxury holidays and indoor theme parks, catering to a wide audience across different interests and age groups.
Commenting on the launch of the guide, Sheikha Noor Abdullah Al Thani, Head of Qatar Calendar, said: “Qatar Calendar is the result of Qatar Tourism’s strategic coordination and collaboration with stakeholders across the country to create an integrated and convenient hub that provides all the information you need.”
Al Thani added that Qatar offers a variety of exciting events and activities throughout the year, and summer is no exception. “Whether it’s exploring our country’s natural attractions, pristine coastlines and beaches, or indoor family-friendly activities, we are confident that these carefully curated events will help showcase Qatar’s rich hospitality on the global stage,” he added.
Tourism sector booming
Qatar has seen exponential growth in its tourism sector in recent years, recording over two million tourists in the first four months of 2024 alone. The country is implementing strategic initiatives and high-profile events to further propel its tourism sector forward.
In line with the Third Phase of the National Development Strategy and Qatar National Vision 2030, the country’s tourism sector has emerged as a key driver of economic growth and diversification. Qatar aims to welcome six million tourists per year by 2030.

His Excellency Saad bin Ali Al Khalji, Chairman of Qatar Tourism, in a recent interview with Economy Middle East, said: “A major trend is the growing demand for family-friendly travel experiences. This is driven by an increasing number of families seeking inclusive and diverse holiday options. Qatar is strategically positioned as a family-friendly destination, offering a wide range of attractions and activities suitable for all age groups.”
Qatar has launched several initiatives and investments in the tourism sector, aiming to attract tourists from several countries, especially during Eid Al-Adha, including Saudi Arabia, India, China, the UK and the US. Al Khalji noted that these sending markets are crucial in increasing tourist numbers and revenue for the tourism sector.
